As the Colorado Council for Exceptional Children President, I wanted to
bring you exciting news of what is happening in our community for
2014. If you have not heard already, the Courage to Risk Conference is
next week already! Do not miss out on this opportunity to learn from
professionals who devote themselves to supporting students with
disabilities. Each year that I go, I further my own knowledge and best
practices. This conference is truly one you do not want to miss. So,
make time for yourself to improve upon your professional development and
register today.
Speaking of being inspired, I wanted to
introduce a person who has touched my spirit with her soulful prose.
Dawn Howard, who recently read her poetry at our board meeting, touched
each and every one of us with her poems,
Owl and
Listen Beyond. Dawn is
twice exceptional and we are excited that she will be soon publishing
her very first poetry book in our community.
Lastly, I am so
proud that the Colorado Council for Exceptional Children was accepted to
host a community screening of
Who Cares About Kelsey. If you have not
heard about this movie, please take a short break to click on the link
above to see a preview. This is an amazing professional development
event for our community and one not to miss. We are all excited to see
you there on February 22. Details on where and what time we will be
holding it are coming soon.
Thank you all for being a part of our Colorado community and may 2014 inspire and enrich your lives,
Dr. Caron Westland
President, CCEC
